What We're All About
Since we first began the exclusive practice of medical weight-loss in 1992, we have seen more than a few weight-loss medications appear and then fade, including Meridia, fenfluramine, Xenical, Dexfenfluramine. However, the foundations of all ethical weight-management programs -- enlightened nutrition and regular exercise of your choice -- remain unchanged. We still believe in these fundamental tools.
Every season brings a new crop of weight-loss books aimed at the nation's diners, some of which contain some useful strategies. Very few of us have the time or desire to spend days and weeks combing thru the latest self-help titles. Over the past 23 years, we've read some of the better nutritional and motivational books and have incorporated the most useful strategies from these books into our streamlined materials to help you master hunger and keep the enjoyment of eating more profitably. The bigger your perspective on daily living in a stressful world, the more tools you'll be able to draw on.
Since graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, I've been looking for more wellness-oriented strategies than the traditional practice of medicine provides. After more than 23 years of exclusively weight-loss medicine, I've seen which strategies work better than others. We then stress those methods which mesh with the principles of wellness, but which also keep the humanistic perspective of living well. Living well is the best medicine, I believe.
